Educational field-trip

Students from all our fifth grades had the opportunity to visit Buin Zoo. This time, our focus was put on the evolutionary traits that evidence how animals have adapted to their environments. A group of five guides – Sherpas, joined us in discovering why the Tucúquere can rotate its head, why the Tapir has a big neck, how the sentry meerkat is in charge of watching out for predators, and how many other organisms have adapted in order to survive in their habitat in their “Road to Evolution”. Our students were happy to translate what they learn in the classroom to this hands-on experience in which they had the opportunity to have their questions answered in an exciting morning of observing, hearing, and touching.
